New Collection - Camelot Fabrics: Home On The Prairie

Image
I am so happy to announce that my fourth collection for Camelot Fabrics has launched on their website. ‘Home On The Prairie’ is one of my favourite collections, showcasing a warm and earthy colour palette and focussing on my favourite theme of nature.  My inspiration comes in many forms, but the initial inspiration for this collection was a WGSN trend brief I was given while taking part in the Make It In Design Winter School at the beginning of the year. It's a great mini-course that gets the creative juices flowing and encourages you to experiment with your design process. I had some tiles in the studio (- and inspired by the theme of prairie quilts and geometric-floral patterns) I drew directly onto the tiles. I realised I would need a softer line for the final prints, so I then traced back over each of the prints to create slightly looser pen and ink drawings.  These formed the basis of my Prairie qui...

New Range! - Let It Snow! (Part 2)

Image
Christmas is nearly here and if you're still looking for last minute Christmas presents, my 'Let It Snow' patterns are available on a large selection of products that would make lovely gifts, including 5 different but complimentary porcelain mugs. There is also everything you need to make your Christmas table beautiful, including felt coasters, place mats, napkin rings and place mats!   ... and a choice of either a felt cut out table runner... ... or a printed cotton one! In addition to all the serving platters that I showed you in my last post, there is also a matching snowflake platter and gravy boat to complete your Christmas setting. Have a magical Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!! xxx Images copyright Kitchen Craft 2013.

MIX IT (Part 2)

The second part of the 'Mix It' brief was to design a complimentary surface pattern that would go with the illustrations, but be separate to them. This needed to be unisex to go across a range of textile and paper product, so I decided to keep it quite simple with a hand drawn cross hatch effect created with a dip pen. I used the acidic colours from the illustrations to pull the two contrasting looks together. The cross-hatch design is available on neoprene bottle bags, bottle coolers and napkins. 'Partridge & Pear' ( - Part 3)

Image
Following on from my last post where I showed you the 'Partridge and Pear' cake stand, I am continuing today by posting about the matching cake tins and cupcake cases / cupcake picks. As with the cake stand I had great fun playing around with pattern. There's lots going on, but I think it works! Finally, I come to the last set of products for 'Partridge & Pear', which is a collection of felt tabletop items... ...including, place mats with matching coasters... ...napkin rings, place card holders... ... and a matching table runner. It was tricky work converting my drawings into files for the felt factory as I had to work out all the spacings for the cut-outs. When you look at a cut-out you don't realise how tricky the technique is... it's very easy to accidentally lose a whole section of your design because it isn't correctly 'attached' to the rest of the piece. I loved working on this range and hopefu...

'Christmas Fayre' ( - Part 3)

Image
Christmas is a time when everyone seems to love baking - even I have been known to put on an apron and attempt a batch of mince pies during the festive period! The 'Christmas Fayre' range has everything needed to make baking with the kids ( or on your own!) really easy and fun! There is a baking kit containing a red mixing bowl, (which has my design embossed all the way round), cookie cutters and a spatula. Separate sets of fun Christmas spatulas featuring my design motifs are also available. The apron is one of my favourite products in the range. You can't quite see in the photo but the pockets have super-cute button detailing, which is combined with a fuller than normal apron skirt to create a quirky 1950's style. The matching oven mitt completes the designer look!!! And when all the baking is finished there are even tea towels to help you finish the washing up - Or, you could just put everything in the dishwasher and use the tea towels to add a dash of fe...
