My Design Process - 'Something Special'

Image
As a designer I often get asked how I create my images and if I draw everything by hand. I thought it might be fun to answer these questions in this blog post to give you a quick overview of the process of how I work to create my designs.  At the moment I'm working on a new range of greetings cards, which is something a bit different for me... but the process for each design is similar to how I work for creating all surface pattern designs or placement graphics for products. The starting point is always an idea. Sometimes this comes in the form of a client brief and sometimes it's the spark of an idea in my head. For these greetings cards I decided I wanted to create a range of cards based on my existing typography range, 'Well Hello There!', but with sentiments that were more focussed on the greetings card market. Often at this stage I create an ideas board, but because the look of the new range is to follow existing designs I simply reviewed the existing work...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

December has been such a busy month and I have been working on so many new designs... I just can't quite believe that Christmas is here already! I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for following my work and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Please do visit the blog again in the new year as I promise there will be lots of new product launches (2012 has been such a productive year!) and some exciting projects ahead! xxx (The card designs above are from my licensing portfolio - hope you like them!)

A BIG THANK YOU...

...to everyone who took part in my 'virtual coffee morning' for Macmillan ! I am very pleased to announce that it has raised £240, which is a huge £300 including gift aid! Considering I only came up with the idea a couple of days before the event was launched I think it has been a huge success and I am so grateful to everyone who bought 'cakes' and posted the links on their social networking pages! This money will go towards helping Macmillan help to improve the lives of people with cancer.

Christmas is coming!

Ok... well not really, but that hasn't stopped me designing some Christmas themed images for my Advocate licensing portfolio. I've added a few above, or you can see more by going to the Advocate Art site. It may only be June, but Santa will be on his way (again) before you know it!
